Public Biography

Of all artisans across the globe, few are as shrouded in mystery as the person that

Hope's Peaksponsored as the "Ultimate Dollmaker". Their name, appearance, and even

base of operations are amystery to all but a select few. Instead, their dolls are

commissioned anonymously, either by mail orthrough an office in London (at which

they are never personally present). Custom creations can sell for hundreds or even

thousands of pounds, should there be someone willing to pay as much, though they

also provide high-end toysellers with mass-producible designs to place on the shelves for cheaper. Every doll comes with a paper tag announcing their creator with an almost hubristic self-importance: created by simply “The Dollmaker”, as if there was only one person important enough to even use the occupation title.

Once you see their work, however, you just might understand why they hold so much pride in their craft. Traditional porcelain dolls are their creation of choice, but if the job calls for it, they can produce out of plush, felt, wood, even rag and paper—their one reservation being plastic, of which they will reject any request. Regardless of medium, however, the quality in their work is absolutely unmatched. Every stitch sewn, every strand of hair inserted, every button placed, all of it comes with a precision and artistry that radiates raw unbridled talent. Art critics have placed their work on the level of great contemporary artists, and many say they wouldn't be surprised if the creations of the Ultimate Dollmaker wound up in museums just like sculptures after their death.
